One day to liftoff

Tomorrow night, the lights go down at the Walk Festival Cinema in Jackson Hole and TGR rolls Actually, It Is Rocket Science for the first time in front of a live audience. The teasers have been escalating all week — Todd Ligare's mondo front flip from The Vision, Keegan Kilbride's street segment, Maggie Voisin ripping through whatever equation TGR's been cooking up — and now it's one sleep away. Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, the Snow League World Challenge kicks off today at Cardrona with a team-format halfpipe competition that's never been tried before: four squads, sixteen riders, freeskiers and snowboarders going head-to-head. And because the Southern Hemisphere refuses to quit, SnowBrains is calling for 50-70cm of fresh snow across the central Andes this weekend, with Nevados de Chillán potentially catching the lion's share. Valle Nevado still sits at 546 centimeters. The season down south is writing its own mythology. Friday is loaded.
