The Ones Still Open Are the Ones Worth Knowing

Sunday morning and the season is doing something it wasn't supposed to do: coming back. Breckenridge and Brian Head both officially closed, looked at the calendar, looked at the snow, and decided to reopen for bonus days — because apparently the 2025–26 season has the same energy as a bar that turns the lights on and then changes its mind. The Sierra is catching another 5–10 inches through Monday, which means Palisades Tahoe's May extension is looking less like optimism and more like inevitability. Mammoth is Mammoth. Scandinavia just picked up 15 centimeters in the last week with more in the forecast, and the midnight sun is doing its thing. The Wasatch caught 15 centimeters in the last 24 hours — six inches, in late April — and A-Basin grabbed 10. Meanwhile, Killington's Superstar is grinding bumps into May with the grim determination of a marathon runner who refuses to walk, and Jay Peak is skiing corn in the trees like it's the best weekend of the year, because it might be. The map is small. The skiing is not.

Pacific Northwest closed

Zero snow on the ground at Baker, Crystal, and Stevens with temps ranging from -1°C to 7°C and no snow in the forecast — the PNW season is done. →

Rockies mixed

A-Basin caught 10cm in the last 24 hours and Alta/Snowbird grabbed 15cm with 6 more in the three-day forecast — late-season pulses are keeping the holdouts alive, though base depths are thin and terrain is limited. →

Northern Rockies / Interior BC thin

Jackson picked up 21cm over the past week with 5cm more in the forecast, but base depth is minimal at 1cm; BC shows no new snow and cold temps from -13°C to -3°C with nothing incoming. →

Northeast spring

Jay Peak is skiing trees in corn conditions and Killington's Superstar is open into May — 9cm fell this past week, temps range from -2°C to 10°C, and the spring skiing is legit despite minimal measured base. →

Europe mixed

The Alps are quiet with no new snow and temps from 1°C to 8°C across France, Switzerland, and Austria; Scandinavia is the bright spot with 15cm in the last week, 6cm more in the forecast, and temps from -6°C to -4°C — glacier and high-altitude skiing only in the south. →

Japan closed

Zero snow on the ground in Hokkaido with temps from 3°C to 8°C, and Honshu is 5°C to 16°C with no snow in sight — the Japanese season is wrapped. →

The season doesn't end when the calendar says. It ends when you stop showing up.
