While the rest of the ski world is measuring its final days in costume ideas and pond-skim logistics, the Sierra is out here doing something unreasonable — 9 inches in the last 24 hours and another 21 inches in the forecast through Tuesday. Palisades and Mammoth are getting a legitimate April reload, temps in the low 20s, the kind of storm that makes you reconsider every plan you made for next week. Meanwhile, the Northern Rockies are quietly loading up a midweek surprise of their own — 10 to 20 inches possible Wednesday through Friday. The rest of the map? It's what you'd expect four days out from the big shutdown: thin, warm, and winding down.
